Camisea Consortium will give USD 15,000 bonus to carriers that migrate to natural gas

Cargo and passenger carriers from Lima and Callao, Peru, will be able to receive an economic benefit of up to 15,000 dollars per vehicle, thanks to the Camisea NGV Bonus.

August 3, 2022. Cargo and passenger carriers from Lima and Callao, Peru, will be able to receive an economic benefit of up to 15,000 dollars per vehicle, thanks to the Camisea NGV Bonus, which seeks to promote the renewal of the vehicle fleet with units that use natural gas.

Pluspetrol’s External Affairs Manager, Janinne Delgado, pointed out that this initiative of the Camisea Consortium is intended to contribute to the widespread use of natural gas in the country, for which a fund of 33.5 million dollars was created, which the consortium announced last year.

“This effort by the Camisea Consortium seeks to contribute to the objective of the National Energy Plan and the Government, which is to promote the mass use of natural gas at the national level,” she said.

“The purpose of the fund of 33.5 million dollars contributed by the Camisea Consortium is to give an economic bonus of up to 15,000 dollars, which is non-refundable, that is, it is not a loan, but a benefit that is delivered so that cargo and urban transporters can have vehicles fueled by natural gas,” she added.

Delgado said that carriers will be able to save more than 50% on fuel compared to a diesel with the same characteristics, specifying that this benefit will allow the consumption of an own and abundant resource in Peru that has a low, stable price and is not subject to variations in international markets.

She explained that, unlike oil or gasoline, NGV is a more environmentally friendly fuel given its lower emission of polluting particles, including CO2.

The commercial management for the delivery of the bonus to carriers is in charge of Cálidda and it is expected that more than 3,000 new buses, trucks or tractor-trailers will be added to the Camisea NGV Bonus for the next three years.
