February 9, 2023. Iveco delivers 50 Daily units running on compressed natural gas (CNG) to Contarina, a company that deals with waste management in the province of Treviso, Italy.

The white vans, model 70C14GA8 with right-hand drive and automatic transmission, are equipped with a side compactor for waste collection and will be put into circulation for door-to-door collection in the 49 municipalities served by Contarina. The natural gas vehicles have a 136 HP and 2,998 cc engine, and a cylinder configuration that guarantees a capacity of 83 kg of methane thanks to the application of five additional cylinders at the rear of the cabin. The Dailys to be delivered, in addition to having free access to urban centers, will soon be able to use Contarina’s own-produced biomethane at its organic waste treatment plant in Trevignano, where the works for the construction of the new anaerobic digestion section are nearing completion and the first supply of green gas is expected for the summer.

“Contarina constantly renews its fleet, searching the market for innovative and sustainable solutions, capable of limiting the impact on the environment and, at the same time, guaranteeing efficient and safe driving for our operators,” explained the President of Contarina, Sergio Baldin. “We have chosen to invest in sustainable mobility to generate value in the different stages of waste management: from collection, with the conversion to methane of our business fleet, to final treatment, going through the recovery of the organic fraction to produce biomethane. On this journey, which began in 2013 with the purchase of the first methane tankers, we are pleased to have an excellent partner at our side in Iveco, which has been a pioneer in natural gas technologies for more than 25 years and supports the transition to this sustainable fuel in the transport sector”.
