Gas-fueled KAMAZ successfully crosses finish line at Silk Way Rally 2018

On July 27, the Russian part of the Silk Way Rally 2018 drew to a close in Moscow. The gas-fueled KAMAZ led by Sergey Kupriyanov had successfully tackled all of the challenges, finishing fourth among trucks in the final standings.

A new modification of the gas-fueled KAMAZ with a 16.16-liter engine and third-generation gas equipment had been made by the KAMAZ-Master team for the Silk Way Rally 2018. The new vehicle had successfully traveled seven stages of the marathon, covering some 3,500 kilometers.

In the course of the race, the vehicle had been refueled by 16 CNG filling stations of Gazprom located along the route of the rally. Moscow currently has the largest number of CNG stations, with six refueling facilities of Gazprom in operation and another four slated for commissioning before the end of this year.

“The vehicle is brand-new, built just this year: it has a different engine and a more state-of-the-art suspension. It is a veritable monster for off-road travel, and it has gas cylinders. It is our way of saying that there is nothing to be afraid of: it is not only safe and eco-friendly but also, as the race demonstrates, efficient,” said Sergey Kupriyanov, pilot of the gas-fueled KAMAZ.
