FISE calls for certifying companies to participate in the NGV Savings Program

In order to strengthen the program for converting vehicles to natural gas, FISE launches a new selection process to incorporate new certifying entities.

September 4, 2024. The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) of Peru, through the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE), began a new selection process to call for certifying entities for conversions to natural gas vehicles (GNV), interested in participating in the NGV Savings Program.

In line with this process, MINEM, as administrator of FISE, will hold an informative meeting with the certifying entities authorized for the call, in order to support the objectives and procedures carried out by the vehicle conversion program, financed by the State.

To date, there are more than 200 authorized workshops nationwide, affiliated with the NGV Savings Program, to carry out conversions of light and heavy vehicles to natural gas, which, together with the certifiers, are the support to promote the diversification of the energy matrix, reducing pollution and improving air quality.

The transportation sector represents 43% of final energy consumption, and mainly, the cargo and passenger segment is the one that consumes the largest amount of diesel, for this reason, from the MINEM, they are working to promote the change of the energy matrix, promoting the use of cleaner and more efficient energy.

The MINEM remains firm in its support for initiatives such as the NGV Savings Program, which, from November 2021 to April 2024, has made it possible to avoid the emission of more than 2,402 tons of CO2, being a clear example of how public policies can generate tangible benefits for society and the environment.

It is worth mentioning that the certifying companies are responsible for verifying that the vehicle was converted by an authorized workshop, in order to determine that it was carried out in accordance with the provisions of current regulations and, if applicable, issue the respective certificate of conformity for conversion to NGV.
