Gasum opens biogas filling station in Kajaani

The station is the first biogas distribution station in the whole of the Kainuu region.

June 27, 2025. The energy company Gasum is opening its newest biogas filling station in the Finnish city of Kajaani. The station is the first biogas distribution station in the whole of the Kainuu region.

The station offers both liquefied and pressurized gas. This means that both passenger cars and heavy vehicles can be refueled at the station. The distribution of liquefied biogas at the station has already begun. Compressed gas is estimated to be available from 16 July 2025.

“The Kajaani gas filling station is part of Gasum’s strategy to make biogas available on all of Finland’s main transport routes. Stations in Eastern Finland are few, but the Kajaani station eases the situation. With the opening of the station, logistics companies will be able to offer low-emission transports to their customers on an increasing number of routes”, says Juho Kurra, Head of Business, Traffic Finland, Gasum.

The station is located in the Takkaranta district of Kajaani, in the immediate vicinity of highway 5 at the address Takkarannantie 6.
