December 8, 2021. The Generalitat Valenciana, in Spain, has renewed the line of interurban regional transport concessions by road that connects Vinarós, Benicarló and Peñíscola. This route represents a traffic of one million passengers per year with frequencies ranging from 32 to 68 services per year.

Nine low-entry type buses manufactured by Scania Castrosua, CNG hybrids, have been presented for this line. These vehicles are released with a new corporate image, they are equipped with the latest Euro 6 technology with a 9-liter Scania engine, automatic transmission, color plus dashboards, and multiple ADAS-type active safety systems that include 360 perimeter vision, signal readers, fatigue detectors, alcoholocks and collision detectors. Anticovid measures such as temperature scanner, disinfection mat and anticovid screens are also included. They are highly accessible units with double manual and automatic access ramp, two PMR stations and a minimalist and functional interior.

“This renovation, the first in the Valencian Community of this type of lines, marks a new standard of quality, safety and accessibility in the autonomous transport lines. In addition, it generates an undoubted point of attraction towards effective and functional public transport that will clearly be a boost to sustainable mobility in a densely populated area, especially in summer periods and in which Scania’s leadership proposal towards sustainable transport integrates a solution tailored to the customer’s needs”, says Pedro Cotera, Manager of the Urban Bus Area at Scania Ibérica.
