September 14, 2022. Iveco presents Brasil Natural Power, a program whose mission is to develop a structured ecosystem and produce commercial, cargo and passenger vehicles powered by alternative fuels.

With a contribution of R$ 60 million, the initiative aims to address the operational peculiarities of transportation in Brazil and begins with the use of natural gas and biomethane.

“The future is built with actions carried out in the present, and it is with this thought in mind that Iveco carries out concrete initiatives, such as Brasil Natural Power, in the sense of decarbonization and the promotion of cleaner transport. Iveco does not stop and we will continue to move forward, seeking innovative solutions and transforming products and services into sustainability and productivity for our customers”, says Marcio Querichelli, President of Iveco for Latin America.

The initial kick of the automaker will be through the assisted sale of 20 units, in operations that will be monitored in large Brazilian carriers until 2023, of the Hi-Way NG 6X2 600S46T, powered by natural gas by the 460 hp Cursor 13 engine from FPT Industrial. The operation is carried out in partnership with an important economic group in the fleet outsourcing sector. The Brazilian Association of Piped Gas Distributors (ABEGÁS) also participates in the program, mediating the relationship with the distribution network to promote the expansion of the natural gas infrastructure in the country; ZF, with the production of the transmission that equips the trucks; and Bosch, which will collect data from the vehicle and use the information as a parameter to, together with the automaker, implement improvements in the serial production version of the product, based on real missions monitored.

The trucks participating in the program, which required 70,000 hours of development, have the best power/economy ratio in the segment, autonomy of up to 500 kilometers and will validate, from the customer’s point of view, in real and diversified missions, the experience of carrier and the driver with the performance of the vehicles.
