January 15, 2024. After being inaugurated last June in Copenhagen, MSC Euribia arrives at the Port of Cádiz to depart on a 13-night voyage to Northern Europe. It is the first time that the ship refuels liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Spain and that it does so in said port. The itinerary will also travel through Lanzarote, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Casablanca (Morocco), Madeira (Portugal), Lisbon (Portugal) and Southampton (United Kingdom), before arriving at its disembarkation port in Hamburg, Germany. .
The vessel is 333 meters long and 37.92 meters wide and has a capacity for 4,363 passengers and 1,370 crew members, with 1,637 cabins.
MSC Euribia is the second MSC Cruises ship powered by LNG, the cleanest marine fuel currently available on a commercial scale, and has the most energy efficient design at launch, with a series of technologies and solutions that minimize its impact on the air and the marine environment, becoming an example of energy efficiency and emissions reduction.
These include advanced onboard sewage treatment and waste management systems. It has also been designed with the future in mind, allowing it to easily incorporate fuel innovations, such as synthetic or biological LNG, when they become available on a large scale.
