New articulated CNG bus for passengers in Lima and Callao

The Urban Transportation Authority for Lima and Callao, Peru, reported that Metropolitano users will have at their disposal a new articulated bus designed with the highest quality and safety standards.

January 19, 2024. The Urban Transportation Authority for Lima and Callao (ATU), Peru, reported that Metropolitano users will have at their disposal a new articulated bus designed with the highest quality and safety standards, which will begin in three months a trial period with the public.

The vehicle, which will be part of the fleet of Lima Bus Internacional, one of the Metropolitano’s concessionaire companies, is equipped with a state-of-the-art compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel system and complies with Euro 6 regulations, which positions itself as a benchmark in sustainability.

During the unit’s presentation ceremony, the Executive President of the ATU, José Aguilar, highlighted the dealership’s willingness to renew the vehicle fleet. “Along with the growth of the Metropolitano, it is important that companies opt for better buses for the benefit of users,” he stated.

In his turn, José Luis Diaz León, General Manager of Lima Bus Internacional, pointed out that the testing period of this new vehicle will be until the end of the year and that then the objective is to replace the entire fleet, which includes 78 units.

Measuring 18.5 meters long, 2.56 meters wide and 3.33 meters high, the bus will be able to carry 164 passengers (47 seated and 117 standing). Eight of the seats are preferential and each of them has seat belts.
