September 19, 2023. In order to develop with greater intensity the programs for universal access to energy and the massification of natural gas, the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru, through the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE), implemented the NGV Savings Program, an initiative that has been certified as a Good Practice in Public Management within the contest organized by Ciudadanos al Día (CAD) and the School of Public Management of the Universidad del Pacífico.

Within the framework of the nineteenth edition of the “Award for Good Practices in Public Management”, the Ministry was recognized for the implementation of the NGV Savings Program and has obtained the certification of Good Practice in Public Management 2023 in the category “Promotion of Economic Development”.

This recognition is granted to public servants, and agents from the private sector and civil society, for the effort they have been making to provide quality services to citizens, in an adverse context for the country.

NGV Savings finances the cost of vehicle conversion to natural gas, without interest, for up to 3 years (for light vehicles) and 5 years (for heavy trucks); and in the Junín, Ica, Cusco, Piura, La Libertad, Áncash and Lambayeque regions it provides a discount voucher of S/ 1,000 and; in the case of LPG vehicles, said promotion amounts to S/ 2,000.00.

Thanks to this government initiative, the Ministry of Energy has managed to promote the economic development of the natural gas vehicle market, encouraging the creation of 240 conversion workshops and 56 filling stations, promoting an increase of 28.47% in monthly sales of NGV and of 41.35% of its income, which has generated more than 2,300 jobs.

Likewise, through the NGV Savings program, it has promoted the growth of gas vehicles by 59.27%, of which it directly financed the conversion of more than 88 thousand, allowing beneficiaries to save more than S/ 1,900.00 per month due to the use of natural gas to replace more expensive fuels.
