Pamplona’s Urban Transport System adds six new buses powered by renewable gas

January 12, 2026. The Pamplona Regional Urban Transport System in Spain has added six new buses powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) with a Guarantee of Renewable Origin (GO). These buses, which are being added as part of a fleet renewal plan, utilize the natural gas supply system for the city bus fleet located at the Regional Urban Transport System’s depot.

The fleet renewal and expansion, along with the dispatch team and enhanced fleet condition inspections, are measures aimed at improving service delivery and, consequently, the working conditions of the company’s staff.

The six new buses have been fitted with Castrosua’s New City CNG bodywork, equipped with Scania C 340C B4x2EI chassis, measuring 12 meters in length and offering 92 seats (24 of them seated). It’s worth noting that since the Pamplona Metropolitan Area (MCP) approved the TUC’s Second Plan for Less Polluting Energy in 2021 for the gradual replacement of polluting buses, the MCP has already incorporated 35 CNG-powered vehicles with a gas lift (GdO), the last ten of which were added this past July.

All six buses are equipped with 251 kW (340 hp) Euro VI-E engines. They all feature air purification systems and security cameras. The new vehicles also have a double ramp (manual and electric) for wheelchair access.
