Redexis, Zoilo Ríos, and Axpo launch Spain’s first Bio-LNG and biomethane station

This is a pioneering project in Spain, as it is the first public station to sell both Bio-LNG and biomethane, CO2-neutral fuels.

November 26, 2025. Redexis, a comprehensive energy infrastructure company, has begun supplying Bio-LNG and biomethane at its Bio-NGV refueling station—located in Zaragoza and managed by Zoilo Ríos—with renewable gas from the energy supplier Axpo. This follows an agreement between the three companies, based on their shared commitment to decarbonization and the energy transition in the transportation sector.

This is a pioneering project in Spain, as it is the first public station to sell both Bio-LNG and biomethane, CO2-neutral fuels. The station offers a renewable refueling point for national transportation and mobility, providing a high-value proposition by enabling transportation companies to reduce their CO2 footprint at prices lower than conventional fuels.

The facility is located at the El Cisne service station, at kilometer 309 of the A-2 highway, next to the PLAZA logistics platform in Zaragoza, the largest logistics park in Europe. It is a strategic location for freight transport, with more than 6,000 heavy vehicles passing through daily. Zaragoza is also a logistics hub connecting Spain’s main cities (Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, and Valencia) and a key connection point for road routes to France.

The El Cisne filling station is part of the Zoilo Ríos Group, which in recent years has consistently focused on sustainable mobility and the integration of renewable energies into both its services and management model.

This facility allows for the regular supply of renewable natural gas in the form of Bio-LNG for long-haul freight trucks, and in the form of biomethane for cars, vans, and trucks. Refueling times range from 3 minutes for passenger cars to 8 minutes for heavy vehicles.
