April 5, 2024. Renting Colombia and Vanti announced a strategic collaboration that seeks to promote the conversion of vehicles to natural gas. This initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability and the adoption of cleaner fuels in fleets of light units.

According to Renting Colombia, this project will be applied to the vehicle fleet of Localiza Rent a Car, operated by the company. To date, it has managed to convert 435 vehicles equipped with 40-liter cylinders and electronic control, which operate in the cities of Medellín and Bogotá.

The measure is in line with Renting Colombia’s objective, so that in 2025 10% of its entire fleet operates with clean energy. Today, 9% of its units already operate in this way, which helps avoid the emission of approximately 670 tons of CO2.

According to Localiza Rent a Car, the initial strategy focused on its Medellín and Bogotá fleet due to the volume of vehicles, the availability of natural gas supply, lower cost of gaseous fuel compared to gasoline, and favorable exceptions in Medellín related to the peak and license plate for converted vehicles.
