Repsol and Nortegas agree to open a network of NGV supply points

July 28, 2020. Repsol and Nortegas Green Energy Solutions have signed an agreement to promote the installation of a network of natural gas vehicles (NGV) dispensers at the Repsol Group filling stations.

Through this alliance, both companies agree to make available to the public a network of natural gas supply points, integrated into the Repsol Group’s service stations, primarily in the Spanish regions where Nortegas operates as a natural gas distributor, that is, in the Basque Country, Cantabria and Asturias.

Nortegas has been “very satisfied” with the agreement reached with Repsol, “a company with which we share our firm commitment to finding efficient and environmentally friendly energy solutions that are part of a sustainable energy mix.” Indeed, “natural gas is an ally in decarbonisation: it offers a clean and efficient alternative economically and environmentally”.

For its part, Repsol, stressed that this agreement with Nortegas “helps us to continue positioning the NGV as an alternative for mobility. Furthermore, Repsol reinforces its position as a multi-energy company, leader in mobility and with the aim of achieving zero net emissions by 2050, being the first company in its sector to adopt this ambitious goal.”

The first of the stations that Repsol and Nortegas will start will be located in the town of Sestao (Bizkaia), specifically in the Repsol refueling station located at kilometer 9.2 of the Barakaldo-Valle de Trápaga highway, very next to the junction of the A-8.

In this first compressed natural gas (CNG) supply point, the companies will make an investment of close to 400,000 euros, supported by the Basque Energy Agency (EVE) through its program of aid for efficient mobility.

Construction has already started and will have the capacity to meet the demand for light vehicles (passenger cars and vans), as well as medium and heavy urban vehicles (vans and delivery trucks).
