October 15, 2023. Società Estense Servizi Environmentali (S.E.S.A.), a Venetian company that deals with the collection, transformation and recovery of waste in Italy, has trusted Scania for the purchase of two sweepers powered by biomethane.
These are two 9-liter, 280 horsepower units, fueled by compressed biomethane, produced through a virtuous process directly in the company. S.E.S.A., which has the potential to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90% (Well-to-Wheel calculation method), proves to be a virtuous example of resource circularity: all vehicles run on organic waste collected by themselves.
“We are proud of the solution implemented for S.E.S.A. since it fully represents the concepts of sustainability and circular economy, today at the base of the needs of the ecosystem in terms of environmental quality and well-being of society. Scania is determined to lead the change towards a more sustainable transport system and these vehicles, unique in Europe, demonstrate our commitment and versatility even in highly specialized applications,” declares Alessandro Girardi, Head of Presales and Logistics at Scania Italia.
In particular, to respond to the specific operational needs of S.E.S.A., Scania has exploited the maximum potential that distinguishes it. Firstly, thanks to the modularity of the frame it was possible to combine the high autonomy, provided by the eight compressed biomethane cylinders for a total capacity of 760 liters, with the need to have free space on both sides to house the suction and swept equipment. Maneuverability and silence for navigation in urban environments combined with the precision of the kinematic chain that lightens the driver’s work. Furthermore, when designing a customized solution, the collaboration with the installer Bucher Municipal was decisive.
