September 5, 2021. The Governor of the Brazilian State of Mato Grosso, Mauro Mendes, sanctioned a bill that grants exemption from the Property Tax of Motor Vehicles (IPVA) to units registered in the name of application drivers or spouses that use natural gas for vehicles (NGV).
Another condition to receive the benefit is that the vehicle must have a maximum capacity of 1,600 power cylinders.
The purpose is to encourage the consumption of natural gas by application drivers. For this, the state government will also grant an exemption of emission rights for the Certificate of Registration of Vehicles (CRV) and the Certificate of Registration and License of Vehicles (CRLV), in addition to the inspection and authorization to change the characteristics of the units that carry out the conversion with a Mato Grosso plate.
According to Congressman Wilson Santos, author of the legislative initiative, the proposal responds to a demand from the application drivers association that is adversely affected in the current socioeconomic context due to the continuous adjustments in the values of ethanol and gasoline, which makes unfeasible the profit margin of the workers.
On the other hand, the Governor of Mato Grosso, in June this year, signed a five-year contract with the Bolivian state company Yacimentos Petroliferos Fiscales (YPFB) for the supply of natural gas to the State.
