May 28, 2020. Sarajevo Canton has opened the first public compressed natural gas (CNG) filling station in Bosnia following a 1.9 million marka (US$1.1 million) investment, the cantonal government said.

The bulk of financing for the project came from the canton’s transport ministry – 1.6 million marka, while the remainder was provided by local utility KJKP Sarajevogas, the cantonal government said in a press release.

The goal is for all municipalities in Sarajevo Canton to have a public CNG filling station, the canton’s prime minister, Mario Nenadic, said in the press release.

Sarajevo Canton is one of 10 cantons within the Federation, one of two autonomous entities forming Bosnia and Herzegovina.
