November 30, 2022. The 109 new biogas vehicles for Transgourmet are mainly AD190S34/FP or AD190S40/FP Iveco S-Way CNG 2-axle chassis. This designation refers to a standard 4×2 chassis with full air suspension, with a technically permissible total weight of 19 tonnes, a standard Active Day driver’s cab with a low roof and a 9-litre Euro VI 340PS or 400PS engine with compressed natural gas (CNG) propulsion. Four gas tanks with a gravimetric filling volume of 160 kilograms each are mounted on the left and right side. This allows a range of up to 670 kilometers.
The order also includes an Iveco S-Way CNG 3-axle chassis AD260S34Y/FS. It is a standard 6×2 chassis with full air suspension, with a technically permissible total weight of 26 tons, a standard Active Day driver’s cab with a low roof and a 9-liter 340 hp engine according to Euro VI standard with CNG propulsion. In addition, for Transgourmet there is an “exotic” vehicle among the new units. With an AD260S40Y/FS truck, the delivery wholesaler tests for the first time an Iveco S-Way 3-axle chassis powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The only difference between this standard 6×2 chassis and the one described above is that it has a 400 hp Euro VI engine and 9 liters of LNG. The liquefied gas tank contains 195 kilograms, which allows a range of up to 800 kilometers.
Transgourmet deliberately relies on the environmentally friendly and sustainable biogas variants of the Iveco S-Way, because they are perfect for deliveries in inner-city areas, and therefore in densely populated residential areas and, in some cases, environmentally regulated. Compared to a diesel truck, the emissions of nitrogen dioxide and soot are significantly lower. By using Bio-CNG at Transgourmet, which is already increasingly available in Germany, up to 95% less CO2 emissions are possible. Green biogas vehicles are also significantly quieter than a comparable diesel unit, meaning deliveries to customers can continue to take place with less noise.
