January 13, 2021. The Spanish operator in charge of transporting Plusfresc supermarkets, Transportes Bosch Portillo, has added to its fleet a truck powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) for the distribution of products from the Catalan chain. The company has made this acquisition after a test carried out with a Renault Trucks D Wide 320 18-ton CNG model, through the official distributor Motor Tàrrega (Lleida). As highlighted by Renault Trucks, the model “has offered results that have led them to choose it as the best option with which to contribute to cleaner logistics in the city.”
The vehicle will carry out an urban distribution with deliveries in Barcelona in the morning and deliveries in the center of Lleida and some points of the surroundings in the afternoon. “The future of urban transport is clearly marked by more sustainable logistics, which affects both environmental efficiency and the decongestion of cities at peak hours”, they have assured from Plusfresc. For its part, from Transportes Portillo Bosch they have added that “transport is a basic pillar in economic development and the future is to develop alternative fuels, promote the change to other modes of transport, intermodality, innovative solutions and the integration of reverse and outbound logistics”.
The relationship between Bosch Portillo and Plusfresc dates back to 2000, when the supermarket chain outsourced its transportation service in its first two stores. Subsequently, they have been incorporating new vehicles and points of purchase. These are mostly located in Lleida, but it also has a presence in Barcelona and Tarragona. Currently, Bosch Portillo carries out the entire distribution of Plusfresc in its 77 establishments.
