Westfalen opens new Bio-CNG station in partnership with EGV AG

The site will supply alternative fuel to the food wholesaler company’s transportation fleet for sustainable delivery operations.

October 22, 2024. Westfalen is further expanding its range of alternative fuels with its latest opening In Herford, a new Bio-CNG location for trucks and cars.

This location is part of the cooperation between the company and food wholesaler EGV AG, to ensure environmentally friendly delivery logistics. In future, EGV will increasingly supply bulk consumers and catering customers in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony with Bio-CNG-powered vehicles.

Herford’s offering has been expanded to include Bio-CNG in addition to Bio-LNG and e-mobility.

“Bio-CNG is particularly suitable for small and medium-weight commercial vehicle fleets in local, regional and distribution transport,” said Dr. Thomas Perkmann, CEO of the Westfalen Group.

The alternative fuel used in Herford is obtained from waste and residual materials, which can therefore reduce CO2 emissions by up to 100% compared to diesel.

The Westfalen Group will soon be opening another Bio-CNG filling station for commercial vehicles in Oelde. This will expand CNG capacity onsite and will be expanded to include a truck filling station.
