ReFuels opens Bio-CNG refueling station between Edinburgh and Glasgow

The public-access Bio-CNG station operated under the CNG Fuels brand will enable low-emission transport across large parts of Scotland.

May 24, 2025. ReFuels N.V., one of Europe’s leading suppliers of renewable biomethane (Bio-CNG) for the decarbonization of heavy goods vehicles (HGV), has opened a new refueling station at Livingston in West Lothian, Scotland.

The public-access Bio-CNG station operated under the CNG Fuels brand will enable low-emission transport across large parts of Scotland.

“The Livingston station is strategically located near several major distribution centres, including Tesco, DHL, Aldi and Iceland, and its opening supports fleet operators and their customers in reducing transport emissions across Scotland. Bio-CNG is a proven, low-carbon and cost-effective alternative to diesel, with infrastructure, vehicles and supply chains already available at scale. With strong potential for production growth both domestically and across Europe, biomethane can play a key role in decarbonizing long-haul transport. As we expand our network in line with our long-term strategy, we continue to see growing demand for Bio-CNG trucks from

both new and existing customers,” said Philip Fjeld, CEO of ReFuels.

The Livingston station can refuel 14 trucks simultaneously, when at full utilization, enabling more than 600 trucks to be refueled per day with a total capacity of 20 million kilograms (kg) of Bio-CNG annually. CNG Fuels also operates Scotland’s first public-access renewable biomethane HGV refueling station, off the M8 near Bellshill, which opened in December 2021.
