Foton launches its new line of CNG buses in Colombia

The initiative responds to the brand's strategic vision of diversifying its mobility solutions.

August 24, 2025. Foton, represented in Colombia by Corautos Andino, officially announced its entry into the bus segment with the launch of a new category of diesel and natural gas vehicle (NGV) chassis.

During the 24th ExpoTP Acoltés Public Transport Meeting, held in the Coffee Region, the company presented two of its four innovations: the Araña Foton MS Chassis and a NGV bus with a Busscar Colombian body.

The initiative responds to the brand’s strategic vision of diversifying its mobility solutions offering, capitalizing on its experience and support in the light truck segment, where it ranks second in sales according to figures from the National Single Transit Registry (RUNT).

“Our experience and strength in the truck segment, combined with the limited supply of bus chassis in the country, motivated us to develop this line, based on the same powertrain that has been so successful and that today positions us as the second-largest selling light truck brand,” said Luis Andrés Ferrer, Director of Research and Development at Corautos Andino.

These new models, all equipped with Cummins engines, have been designed to meet the needs of urban, intercity, and school transporters, offering bodywork versatility and performance backed by the same technology and durability.

Among the company’s competitive advantages, it highlights engines with greater torque and power than other competitors, a gross vehicle weight that provides operational versatility, and the support of an extensive after-sales service and spare parts network nationwide, comprised of 20 service workshops and more than 40 auto parts warehouses.
