AUVASA adds three new CNG buses to its fleet

These are rigid, 12-meter vehicles powered by compressed natural gas, with a 320 hp engine and Euro VI-E emissions standards.

May 14, 2026. Mayor Jesús Julio Carnero presented three new buses from the Valladolid Urban Bus Company (AUVASA), bringing the fleet to 159 buses and a total capacity of 16,584 seats, 11% more than in 2022, when the company had 150 buses providing service.

This measure aims to improve service in response to the positive trend in demand for urban transport, which in the first four months of 2026 exceeded 11 million passengers (7.3% more than the previous year).

These are rigid, 12-meter vehicles powered by compressed natural gas (CNG), with a 320 hp engine and Euro VI-E emissions standards, which gives them a low level of pollutant emissions, as evidenced by their ECO environmental label, as well as low noise levels and a high level of ride comfort. This is all part of the framework agreement that AUVASA awarded to the company Solaris, representing an investment of €1,172,127.

Each bus has a total of 103 seats, a continuous low floor with lateral tilting at stops, a central platform with two spaces for wheelchair users, with automatic and manual ramps, three access doors, and the latest safety innovations, including a driver assistance system.

They also feature technology for passenger information, including ultra-wide screens, external visual and acoustic information for people with sensory disabilities, and six reserved spaces for people with reduced mobility.

As the Mayor stated, “we are implementing a measure that responds to the trust that the citizens of Valladolid have placed in urban bus public transport, increasing the supply of available vehicles and maintaining the average age of the entire fleet at around 10 years, while the fleet that usually provides service on the regular lines (98% of the trips) has an average age of 4.8 years.”
