With the change of 25 heavy-duty diesel vehicles to use CNG, an inter-institutional agreement will begin, which will finance with loans the start of the pilot program.

August 7, 2021. With the change of 25 heavy-duty diesel vehicles to use compressed natural gas (CNG), an inter-institutional agreement will begin that will finance with loans the start of the pilot program that seeks to promote competitiveness, reduce the emission of polluting gases and reduce the energy dependence on oil and its derivatives.

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes (MICM), Víctor –Ito- Bisonó; Andrés Vander Horst Álvarez, General Manager of Fiduciaria Reservas; and Ricardo de los Santos Polanco, President of the National Federation of Dominican Transportation (FENATRADO).

The test will begin with members of FENATRADO and will be developed by Fiduciaria Reservas, through the Administration Trust for the Natural Gas Massification Program (MASGAS).

The agreement establishes that, in order to qualify under this program, vehicles must meet the eligibility criteria established in Law 103-13 for duty and tax exemptions. The loan will be granted through a special plan to be established by the Reserve Bank.

Fiduciaria Reservas will be in charge of the administration of the trust and of carrying out a purification of the members of FENATRADO that participate in the initiative, to guarantee that they comply with the requirements and selection criteria defined by the Technical Committee of the Trust.

The Federation undertakes to communicate the requirements to its members and to facilitate the documentation that accredits the beneficiary as a member of the institution and as the owner of the truck. In addition, it will pre-evaluate its members and issue certifications.

Also, it will act as joint guarantor and will undertake that the beneficiary pays the financing obtained to the trustee. The truckers who are chosen must deliver the truck they use to have it disintegrated.

The MICM Minister, Víctor -Ito-Bisonó, assured during the signing of the agreement that the vision of the government of President Luis Abinader is to work for a safer environment and attached to environmental sustainability.
