October 29, 2026. A network of filling stations has been created in Russia for refueling vehicles with compressed natural gas (CNG). Today, it includes more than 900 stations, which is 3.8 times more than in 2012. Over a half of the facilities belong to the Gazprom Group’s gas filling network.
Starting from 2022, private investors have been joining the work under the Gazprom brand name: as many as 40 stations of this kind are currently in operation across Russia under franchise contracts.
At the same time, Gazprom is developing the mobile format of CNG transportation and sales through the use of mobile NGV refuelers. This format is particularly in high demand in the areas that are located far away from the main gas distribution facilities and NGV refueling infrastructure.
To this date, the Company has implemented a total of 30 such projects in Russia. For instance, CNG trailers are used for refueling motor vehicles and machines in the Kaluga and Sakhalin Regions, the Krasnodar Territory and the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra, as well as for providing off-grid gas supplies to industrial enterprises in the Kamchatka Territory and in the Kemerovo and Novosibirsk Regions.
To refuel long-haul motor vehicles and provide off-grid gas supplies to private consumers, Gazprom is developing small-scale production of liquefied natural gas (LNG). As many as 11 enterprises of this kind are currently in operation. Among them is the small-scale LNG complex in the Amur Region. The facility provides the fuel for the gas boiler house located in the Amurselmash urban district of the city of Belogorsk and serves to refill long-haul trucks.
At the requests of Gazprom, Russian automakers are expanding the range of CNG- and LNG-powered vehicles and machines. Due to these efforts, Russia’s NGV fleet currently comprises more than 200 models of passenger vehicles, cars and trucks, as well as road-construction and agricultural machines and municipal vehicles powered by natural gas.
Gazprom helps Russian car owners covert their vehicles to gas at a lower cost. In 2026, a new program has been launched with the participation of the Company that makes it possible to convert vehicles to gas with paying no upfront costs for CNG equipment; the program is available at the GBO.RF platform. This is Russia’s first digital platform for the sales and maintenance of gas-powered equipment.
