October 4, 2022. Natura began its logistics operations with six sets of trucks powered by natural gas for vehicles (NGV) in São Paulo, Brazil.
The units, which transport the brand’s finished products, are also enabled to run on biomethane, which further reduces the impact of this activity on the environment. From the beginning, the projection is to emit 16% less pollutants in relation to the fleet with a diesel engine.
Thanks to the use of biomethane, which may be feasible until the first half of 2023, the potential for reducing emissions reaches 82%, by expanding the supply of biofuel in the country.
As an immediate result of this logistics transformation, more than 98 tons of greenhouse gases per year will no longer be emitted into the atmosphere. The initiative has the collaboration of Coopercarga, a transport company that provides services to Natura.
Taking the main state highways as their route, such as Bandeirantes, Anhanguera and Dom Gabriel, the trucks will carry the message of the Positive Impact Trip printed on their trunks, an initiative that represents Natura’s ambition to be Net Zero by 2030.
The Natura logistics operation decarbonization project is aligned with the Commitment to Life, Sustainability Vision of the Natura &Co group, which also includes Avon, The Body Shop and Aesop.
