New order for 120 natural gas vehicles for GEODIS

The new order brings to 320 the number of trucks dedicated to the delivery of last kilometers in urban centers and that run on natural gas.

January 14, 2022. The new order brings to 320 the number of trucks dedicated to the delivery of last kilometers in urban centers and that run on natural gas. It includes light vehicles (Iveco Daily), rigid (Iveco Eurocargo) and trucks (Iveco S-WAY). They will all be powered by Bio-CNG and will almost completely eliminate CO2, nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and fine particulate matter emissions compared to a Euro VI-E diesel unit.

“This investment is part of a decidedly proactive policy to reduce CO2 emissions from freight transport in the last mile. We go beyond the legal provisions of low emission zones, in response to the expectations of our customers, cities and citizens”, says Stéphane Cassagne, General Director of Distribution at GEODIS.

For urban delivery, GEODIS also has electric vehicles and various cargo bikes as part of experiments carried out in Tours, Lille, Strasbourg, Montpellier, Bordeaux, Le Touquet and St Malo.

“We are delighted to support GEODIS in its energy transition process. Iveco made the strategic decision to develop the natural gas solution to help its customers reduce their CO2 emissions, local pollutants and noise more than twenty-five years ago. This experience allows us today to be the leader in natural gas, which represents 94% of non-diesel heavy vehicles registered in France in 2021”, said Emilio Portillo, General Manager of Iveco France.
