Porto receives 23 CNG waste collection vehicles

Iveco Portugal has just made a new and important contribution to strenghtening the fleet of the Porto Municipal Environment Company (EMAP), through the formal delivery of 23 units, most of them equipped with compressed natural gas (CNG) engines, intended to collect and transport waste from the urban perimeter of the city.

“With this important additional business, Iveco Portugal reinforces the presence of its products – with special emphasis on the S-WAY NP model – in the urban waste collection segment, consolidating the market leader position in commercial vehicles powered by natural gas. In the case of this business with the Porto City Council, through EMAP, the company responsible for managing this process, this translates into a significant increase in the operation of this entity’s fleet, as well as very positive impacts on the quality of life for citizens, in accordance with sustainability policy objetives defined by the city”, says Artur Oliveira, Commercial Director of Iveco Portugal.

The 23 units are subdivided into eight S-WAY NP vehicles of 26 tons for the collection of municipal solid waste fueled by CNG, with a third directional axle and automatic speeds, equipped with a 19 m3 compaction box; three S-WAY NP vehicles for the collection of solid urban waste of 26 tons powered by CNG, with third directional axle and automatic gearbox, equipped with a compaction box of 22 m3 and crane; two S-WAY NP vehicles of 26 tons propelled by CNG, with third directional axle and automatic gearbox, equipped with removable box transport system with hook and crane; two EUROCARGO NP vehicles of 12 tons for the collection of solid urban waste fueled by CNG, with automatic speeds, equipped with a 10 m3 compaction box; eight X-WAY 26-ton urban solid waste collection vehicles with third steering axle and automatic gearbox, equipped with a 19 m3 compaction box and crane.
