July 10, 2021. The Swedish manufacturer Scania has won the tender launched by the Syndicat des Mobilités de Touraine for the renewal of a third of the bus fleet in the agglomeration of Tours with models that run on natural gas.
In total, 45 units of the Citywide NGV from the metropolis of Touraine, including 30 standard 12-meter buses and 15 articulated 18-meter models. The first vehicle will be delivered in May 2022. Another fourteen 12-meter buses will be delivered in July 2022, when Tours’ natural gas filling station is operational.
The new generation Citywide buses delivered to the agglomeration of Tours will benefit from a new design and a reconditioned driving position. The 12-meter models will be equipped with a 280 hp engine and the 18-meter models with a 340 hp block. In both cases, the ZF Ecolife 2 automatic gearbox will secure the transmission.
“These vehicles will represent the first new generation of Scania Citywide delivered in France,” explains Olivier Toublanc, Account Manager for Coach and Bus Services at Scania France.
