Transalliance renews its fleet with CNG and LNG vehicles

The market covers a total of thirty vehicles, liquefied and compressed natural gas (LNG-CNG) tractors and LNG carriers of 19 and 26 tons.

July 20, 2022. Transalliance has chosen Scania to renew part of its fleet of gas units. The market covers a total of thirty vehicles, liquefied and compressed natural gas (LNG-CNG) tractors and LNG carriers of 19 and 26 tons. Deliveries were spread over a year: the last one took place last May.

A specialist in land transport and logistics solutions on a European scale, Transalliance today brings together 90 companies spread throughout the French territory. It employs 2,800 people and has 850 vehicles in the fleet assigned to various operating companies, 6% of which run on gas.

“Of course, we are very sensitive to the energy transition. For us, it is dictated by available technologies and economics. When it comes to heavy vehicles, only natural gas and biodiesel engines can solve our problems. Electricity and hydrogen are not yet mature enough, says Guillaume Hotton, Purchasing Manager at Transalliance. Our policy is to meet the demands of customers who want a better carbon footprint or who have limitations in terms of urban deliveries that require less pollution or use of less noisy refrigeration units.”

According to Hotton, the maintenance contract offered by Scania was an interesting argument. In particular, it allows better budgeting of costs. “We especially feel that the manufacturer was involved. The contract provides for financial compensation if the immobilization of the vehicle exceeds 24 hours. Although this does not cover everything, it shows the philosophy of the manufacturer, their commitment and their confidence in their product. And this is crucial, because what we sell to our client are rounds with natural gas vehicles. However, in the current state of things, the loan or rental of a truck of this type to replace one that is immobilized is impossible.”
