Wheeltainer commits to sustainable innovation with 50 Volvo FH Aero LNG trucks

The LNG technology used by Wheeltainer allows for a range of up to 950 km in France, but also on European roads.

June 28, 2025. Le Havre-based transport company Wheeltainer has become the first customer in France to deploy the new Volvo FH Aero LNG trucks. This is a significant order for 50 liquefied natural gas (LNG) vehicles, 30 of which have been in operation since February 2025, and the remaining 20 are expected to be ready by the end of 2025.

“The Volvo FH AERO LNG now optimally meets the requirements for performance, range, and reduced environmental impact in the short and medium term,” explained William Kerfriden, CEO of Wheeltainer.

The LNG technology used by Wheeltainer allows for a range of up to 950 km in France, but also on European roads, while ensuring a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, especially when combined with Bio-LNG, which can achieve decarbonization of up to 100%. The carrier also benefits from the services of an LNG and Bio-LNG station in Le Havre, further reinforcing the relevance of this energy solution.

The social dimension also occupies a prominent place in Wheeltainer’s strategy. Driver comfort is enhanced by the Volvo FH LNG’s inherent qualities: reduced noise pollution, reduced driving stress, and a wide range of driver aids.
