Greece’s Elinoil and compatriot Blue Grid, a unit of Molgas, plan to launch their first LNG and CNG fueling station for vehicles in Greece in the first quarter of 2024.

June 18, 2023. Greece’s Elinoil and compatriot Blue Grid, a unit of Molgas, plan to launch their first LNG and CNG fueling station for vehicles in Greece in the first quarter of 2024.

According to a statement by one of the largest fuel retailers in Greece, Elinoil, the station will be located in Attica (Thriassio area).

“This partnership combines Blue Grid’s expertise in LNG supply and distribution with the extensive geographical presence of Elin’s network and will play a crucial role in the promotion of alternative fuels in Greece,” the firm said.

Moreover, “Elin’s entry into the LNG-CNG market is part of the implementation of its strategic plan for the transformation of its network into integrated energy stations, while at the same time it is in line with its broader commitment to promote sustainability,” it said.

Back in 2021, Elinoil and Blue Grid created Greece’s first LNG fuel supplier for road transport, BlueFuel, to develop a nationwide network of filling stations for heavy-duty vehicles, enabling the use of LNG as a road fuel in Greece but also the wider region.
